PLANET-FRIENDLY GREEN SMOOTHIE

This Planet-Friendly Green Smoothie is not only delicious and nutritious but also environmentally friendly, using ingredients that minimize waste and support sustainable food practices. Packed with leafy greens, fruits, and plant-based protein, it's the perfect way to start your day on a green note!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana, peeled and frozen

  • 1 cup packed spinach leaves (or kale)

  • 1/2 cup chopped cucumber

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (or any nut/seed butter of your choice)

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any plant-based milk)

  • Juice of 1/2 lime (optional)

  • 1-2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)

  • Ice cubes (optional, for a colder smoothie)

    Instructions:

    • Prepare ingredients: Make sure your banana is ripe and frozen beforehand. If you haven't frozen it yet, you can peel and chop it into chunks and place it in the freezer for at least a few hours or overnight. Gather all the other ingredients as well.

    • Blend: In a blender, combine the frozen banana chunks, spinach leaves, chopped cucumber, avocado, chia seeds, hemp seeds, almond butter, and almond milk. Squeeze in the lime juice if using, and add honey or maple syrup for sweetness if desired.

    • Blend Until Smooth: Blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, you can add more almond milk to reach your desired consistency.

    • Taste and Adjust: Taste the smoothie and adjust the sweetness or tartness by adding more honey, maple syrup, or lime juice if needed.

    • Serve: Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish with additional chia seeds or hemp seeds if desired. You can also add a slice of lime or a few cucumber slices for a decorative touch.

    • Enjoy: Sip and enjoy your delicious and planet-friendly green smoothie! Feel energized and nourished knowing that you're supporting sustainable food practices with every sip.

Tips:

  • To make your smoothie even more eco-friendly, use locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible.

  • Consider using a reusable straw or simply sip your smoothie directly from the glass to minimize waste.

  • Feel free to customize this recipe by adding other green veggies like kale or Swiss chard, or swapping out the fruits and seeds based on your preferences and what's in season.
